Anne’s October Update and Musings - The Magic of Creativity

I don’t think there is more magic and joy than when you are doing what you love. And I do love to write. My new book, Cleo’s Fabulous Adventures: The Realm of the Woods, is now manifest and available. This book has brought me so much joy in its creation.

A very special friend asked me if I was Cleo. And I suppose in numerous ways, she is me.

The synchronicities that happened through the months of creating this book still amaze me. Developing my mentorship with Dr. Steven Farmer was one. And that was truly the inspiration for the whole story line. Then, as I was selecting the special animal for their alphabet letter, they would come from all types of inspiration. For example, Michael the Mongoose came from a conversation I had with my mom and her caregiver. We were chatting one day about the letter “M” character. I had selected the mocking bird at the start, but its animal spirit wasn’t reflecting where the story line needed to go. So, we were chatting about other options when my mom’s caregiver suggested a mongoose. After looking up mongoose spirit, it was perfect!

And the same thing happened with the animal names. Each name was to be one of an angel, a spirit or a mystical character. But their essence had to match the same essence of the animal spirit. Sometimes it took long hours of Google searches and sometimes they came during meditation or dreams. But they always came when I needed them.

Then I knew I had to bring the animals themselves to life, but in a unique way. And I didn’t want just a picture of the animal, because it would not represent their magic. So, as I was scrolling through Facebook one afternoon, I saw some pictures from the most talented man. Cédric Perret. He creates the most amazing pictures through AI and most of them were fantastical dragons. I reached out to see if he would do the illustrations for my book. And what was born from that was a very special, kindred soul relationship that remains to this day. And he will be the illustrator for all of Cleo’s upcoming adventures.     

As Cédric and I discussed each animal and what my vision of that animal was, I was blown away every time I got the final pic. They were perfect. So perfect that they started manifesting in real life! We had just completed Sachael the Snake, when the next day, a 6-foot black snake made his way slowly through my backyard and into the garden. Then, the day I got the pics of Varuna the Vulture, I was doing yard work at my mom’s house, and looked up to see a vulture in the street. Too cool!     

And then there is Bacchus. Bacchus is a black panther and is Cleo’s guide through the realm of the woods. I have a portrait of a black panther framed and in front of my PC where I write. So each time I got stuck for ideas and inspiration, I would look up to Bacchus (my guide through the writing of the book) and ask for guidance. It always came that day or the next. Panther Spirit is truly powerful.  

But I think my greatest joy is Ezrael. He is Cleo’s guardian angel and she discovers him during her adventure. Of course, Ezrael is my guardian angel and I have known him for about two years. And it was one of the most special days of my life when I met him. How Cleo meets Ezrael in the book is how I met Ezrael in my life. And I am so honored that I can share Ezrael with the world. He is my rock and my joy. If you don’t yet know your guardian angel, read the Michael the Mongoose chapter.

So where is the line between “reality” and “creativity”? As I wrote, sometimes the creative world was more “real” than the physical world. Or, was that actually my reality at the time? The subconscious mind can’t tell the difference between the two, so maybe our creative world is the “real” reality after all. Either way, there is magic in both, but especially when you are immersed in your wonderful creative project.

So write your book, paint your picture, plant your garden, sculpt your statue, build your special project. You all have it in you. It is your birthright. And take a queue from all of the animals in the realm; do it with your own special magic and receive the joy in your heart.
