Lights, Camera…YOU! is a fun exploration of the movie making process and how you can use that same process to develop and direct your life story.

This book is a visionary guide to directing, editing, and starring in the most powerful film you’ll ever make – your own life.   

I have the ultimate privilege to work with Alan Roth as my co-author.  Alan is a screenwriter and industry speaker, and a Fellow of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. He also serves as an adjunct professor of screenwriting at Fairleigh Dickinson’s School of the Arts.

He is a winner of the coveted Nicholl Fellowship Academy Award for best original screenplay: Jersey City Story.  His next release is The Book of Leah, starring Armand Assante.

Alan brings a special flair to this book. Through each CUT TO section, he shares stories and experiences from his career in the movie industry. They are both delightful and meaningful.

The book starts with the development of your all-important movie Concept. Then it moves to the screenplay. We meet you as the actor, you as the director and you as the producer. Same life, different perspectives.

Then we explore what your inner camera has been recording all along, the stories running quietly in the background, and how you can rewrite the script whenever it no longer serves you. We explore your options for editing, adding the sound design and music and finally those special effects that you can use to create the life you truly want.

Finally, we get to see the movie, attend the after party and meet the critics, the frenemies and your soul tribe. In the end, you might not even recognize that person who is now playing the starring role in their own life.

Writing this book reminded me just how often we forget that we are not just actors reacting to life. We are also the writers, directors and producers. When we become aware of those hidden scripts running behind the scenes, we see things from a different perspective. And we realize how much creative influence we really have.
