Anne’s October Update and Musings – A Time to Receive

When we stop chasing, grace finds us.

We are all givers — offering our time, our love, our energy to friends, family, and work. It’s beautiful… but how often do we pause to receive? Receiving is not passive; it’s an act of openness, a sacred inhale after all our generous exhales.

Strangely, receiving can be harder than giving. Our culture is not a receiving one. Just think about something so simple as a compliment. When someone says “You look nice today,” how do you respond? When I give that compliment to someone, the answer is usually “Oh, my hair is a mess” or “Well, I don’t feel like that.” When we deflect a compliment, we’re really blocking energy that was meant for us. Try meeting that moment with a smile and a simple “thank you.” It’s a way of saying to the Universe, “Yes, I accept.”

So, let’s talk about how you can practice the art of receiving. As you do this, there may be some things that come up that you didn’t expect. One might be self-worth. Believing, knowing, that you are worthy to receive the gifts that are given. Self-love is one of the most important things you can do. It is not vanity; it’s voltage — the current that keeps our giving and receiving in divine circulation.

Imagine a world where the Universe answers before you even ask — because you already live there. When you stop filling silence with expectation, you begin to hear the whispers of grace. You stop knocking and realize the door is already open.

Here’s a practice that you can do that will help you settle into the wonderful art of receiving.

1.       The Morning Shift – I am the Open Door.

Let your first words set your day’s current. When you first wake, before thoughts start, place your hand on your heart and say aloud: “Today, I receive. I do not chase. I allow what loves me to find me.” You don’t need to visualize outcomes or lists. Just feel the openness of allowing things to come to you.

2.       The Midday Pause – The Breath of Enough

Sometime around noon, wherever you are, stop for three conscious breaths. Inhale ease. Exhale any tiny impulse to earn love, to prove worth or to fix timing. Let the breath be a reset. You are just allowing permission for the Universe to give to you. Even a single conscious breath can remind you that worthiness is not earned — it’s remembered.

3.       The Evening Gratitude – The Unasked Blessings

Before bed, write down three things that arrived that you didn’t plan or request. It could be as simple as a smile from someone, a song on the radio, finding a feather or hearing a bird sing. These are proof that you are already heard and already met halfway. The more you notice them, the more they multiply.

4.       The Heart Touch – Return to the Bridge

When you have doubt about whether you are receiving what you want, place your hand on your chest, close your eyes and breathe in the words: “I am not waiting. I am receiving.” This is your bridge back to trust — the soft reminder that receiving doesn’t require waiting.

Do this practice for nine days. By the ninth day, you’ll feel the shift from seeking to synchrony. Notice how the Universe is tapping you on the shoulder before you even look up.

October is the harvest month, a time when the Earth herself receives — gathering what has grown. Let her teach you the same rhythm: give with joy, receive with grace.

And then just smile and say thank you.

Love and Light,

Anne
