Anne’s July Update and Musings Living in the NOW Moment

So many of the metaphysical groups and sites that I follow talk about living in the NOW moment. But what does that really mean? For me, the definition of what it means to live in the now moment has changed over the past couple of years. And I love that I change my mind about things. That means that I am learning and evolving, not that I am wishy-washy. But back to topic.

Living in the “now” for me means that I am not reliving things from my past and I am not projecting or worrying about things in the future. Being fully present, right in this second. And sometimes that is a place I need to remind myself to get back to. I am a very active thinker and my mind wants to project things. Project into the future and look at all of the different things that could happen. Or project how I can control the outcome of things. In fact, I still observe myself doing this on a regular basis. I was trained and rewarded for this type of thinking during my corporate career. But carrying that forward into my personal life is not something I choose.

I am less prone to review and relive things from the past, even though that has only changed as I have evolved. But either way, our nervous system loves to keep us in the past or the future because that keeps us in the 3D game and out of the frequency of true support and help from our higher consciousness.  One of my favorite sayings is, “get out of your head.” Because when you are in your thinking mind, you are not in the moment. That only comes from your heart.

As a reminder, all of these thoughts, past and future, are energy. It’s all energy. And energy is always moving and changing. And you have the power to change that energy at will. So, for example, did you know that you can actually change your memories? Yes, you can rewrite your past – because it’s all energy. And I would guess that most of us have done this many, many times in our lives already, maybe just not consciously. But haven’t your memories changed about different things over the years? Now most of us would attribute that to “old age” and “forgetfulness”. But I would offer that as you change, the energy of memories changes with you, to better suit the person you are in the now moment. So, what if you change those memories consciously? What if you change the memory of a childhood trauma that shaped you into being scared and withdrawn or anxious and angry? You can literally rewrite your past, because it’s just energy.

Let’s take an example of how to live in the now moment. I’ll borrow an example from The Circle of Light (www.circleevolution.com).  You are preparing for a vacation trip to the beach. You need to get your car prepared, make reservations at your favorite hotel, find a pet sitter, etc. As you are doing these things, you are in the now moment. But if you add a worry about whether your car will break down on the way, or your hotel will have lost your reservation, or the weather won’t be perfect, or you may run out of money, then you are not living in the now moment. And this example can be translated into anything that is happening in your life. A new job, a health issue, a new relationship or paying your bills. It’s about where your focus is. Period.

Be totally involved in what you are doing. If you are eating, enjoy the taste, smell and flavor. Don’t watch TV or scroll through your phone. If you are talking with someone, listen intently to what they are saying. Don’t think about what you will say next. If you are taking a walk, notice what’s around you. Don’t think about all the other things you need to do.

You can use your physical senses to help with anchoring in the now moment as well. Look at the things in your immediate field of vision, listen to the sounds around you, smell some essential oils, and touch something close to you. Be present in the moment without judging it or questioning it or thinking about changing it. And then, open up to receive all of that beauty and abundance around you and that is you. You deserve it, you are worthy of it and Universal Consciousness wants you to have it all – in the NOW moment.

Love and Light,

Anne
